According to an overall passenger satisfaction survey by J.D. Power, a market research firm, San Diego’s airport ranked seventh which is up one from being ranked eighth last year. The scores were based on a multitude of factors such as cleanliness, access to restaurants/retail stores, and availability of parking. Michael Taylor, travel practice lead at J.D. Power notes that travelers who give an airport a score of 10 spend twice as much at retailers and restaurants located inside the airport than those who hand out a score of six or seven. J.D. Power ranks according to the size of the airport from mega airports to medium airports. San Diego falls into the large category where Orange County’s John Wayne, Dallas’s Love Field, and Portland International represent the top. On the other hand, New York LaGuardia, Kansas City International, and Philadelphia ranked the lowest in the largest category.
